The Comeback Kid

Kelsey San Martin, 17, has been jumping, swinging, and tumbling her way to the top of Balcony Gymnastics, earning a well deserved spot on the level ten team. At age 7 she discovered she had a natural talent for the sport, and has been doing it ever since. Wake up, go to school, then attend practice, has been a daily routine for her, progressing steadily throughout the years. Kelsey told Knightly News reporters, “I can’t imagine my life without it.” However three months ago, her promising gymnastics career was turned upside down, and she was forced to imagine life without it. When at a meet, she landed a double back tumbling pass and tore her ACL. Since she has undergone reconstructive surgery. Attending Geril Therapy, she is also undergoing extensive physical therapy to get her muscles back to their original standards. Dr. Adam Geril tells us he expects her back and ready for the next competitive season in January 2013. This will be Kelsey’s senior year, and she will be competing as a level 10. For the future she would like to get a scholarship to a division 1 collegiate school for gymnastics. She explains that it means everything to her so she plans on making it her life.
