Service-Learning PSA
In a partnership between Vanguard High School and Marion Technical Institute, a group of about 30 students participated in a “Financial Literacy” service-learning project at Wyomina Park Elementary School. The project was funded through a service-learning grant provided by Florida Learn and Serve and State Farm Insurance. The objective of the project was to educate and enlighten the first grade class at Wyomina Park about simple financial principals. Caring PSA
Three students from the 2011 Student Television Network Convention Team participated in a live, on-site PSA competition in which they were only given 5 hours to produce a segment based upon the phrase, “character counts.” VHS junior, Rachel Wilson, and freshmen, Lisa Ly and Eliana French, produced the 30-second spot by setting up lights and a backdrop inside their hotel room in Orlando, near the site of the convention. Be The Difference PSA
As a mix between a ‘drama’ and a ‘public service announcement,’ this segment, produced by two advanced TV III students, brings consequences and reflection to a real-life teen issue.
